Is there anything more frustrating than getting home from the supermarket, having spent $200 on groceries and feeling like there is still nothing to eat?

If you’ve been looking for the motivation to clean out the pantry and get it organised, here it is… you’ll save money and eat healthier!

Having an organised kitchen will save you money each week at the supermarket. Australian families discard up to 20% of the food they purchase, wasting on average $1036 per year! That’s a lot of slimy mushrooms and off sour cream.

So, here are my top tips for organising your pantry to minimise waste and save money.

  1. Take everything out of your pantry and sit it on the kitchen bench or kitchen table. Until you know exactly what you have, it’s hard to know exactly how to organise it.
  2. Throw out anything that is past its used by date. As well as disposing of anything old, also get rid of anything that you bought but won’t use again or didn’t like.
  3. When you restock your pantry, keep like with like. Keep the items you need most within easy reach and any items that are seasonal or rarely used in large containers at the top of the pantry.

Groceries are a large component of family weekly expenses so keeping your pantry organised will help you manage your finances as well as reduce waste.

Enjoy the Freedom!
